Enjoy Your Thanksgiving Turkey with Safety

Hey, Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and I am praying all have a great dinner, and healthy dinner, germ-free dinner.  I was reading last night and learned some things I did not know, which are very important to you also.

Being tomorrow most of us in the US will be putting that big ole bird in the oven for our family to enjoy around the dinner table.  I have a few instructions for you to keep your family safe, which some I did not even know until last night while reading about salmanila (sp?) poisoning.

You do not need to rewash your turkey, it is washed  thoroughly before it is frozen and sent to the grocery stores.  When you do wash it, you are unknowingly spreading germs all over your counters, your sink, etc., which this is the main point of doing all of your dinner, and those germs could be just laying there without any notice from you.

Wash your hands after you put your turkey in the roaster or in the oven.  Wash them very well, all the way up to your elbows.  Sing the Happy Birthday Song twice while washing, that should take care of the time spent washing the germs away.

Do not rely on that little popper that is in the turkey that should be telling you your turkey is done. Those poppers do not always work right.  A meat thermometer should be used and inserted in the plumpest part of the turkey, making sure you do not touch a bone, the bone will raise the temps.  Insert it in the full part of the thigh and drumstick, and breast.

Be sure after two hours from taking the turkey from the oven, make sure you debone it and cover it and put it in the refrigerator. The germs start growing after two hours.   If you have any left, get those leftovers in the refrigerator properly so you can safely have leftovers the afternoon or next day.

Have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.  I love each of you and very thankful God has put you in my life.
